What Is In A Fat Burner?

The many different fat burner supplements which are on offer today seem to be the preferred drug of choice when it comes to people wanting to lose weight and regain the shape they once had. There are many reasons as to why these particular weight loss products have become extremely popular and the main one is that they affect a person's body almost as soon as they start taking them.

They may contain a number of different ingredients including fillers and fiber which are claimed to be the reason why these are so effective. The most common ingredients to be found in any fat burner products are as follows:-

1. L- Carnitine (Carnitine)

It is an amino acid and it helps to oxidize or burn the fat in the body's cells and turn it into energy. Unfortunately if fat can not penetrate the inner part of the cell (mitochondial membrane), it will not be utilized if it is not paired with carnitine.

2. Ephedra

This particular fat burner product has both broncho dilating and decongesting properties within. The main active ingredient is ephedrine. Ephedrine not only stimulates a person's central nervous system but can also dilate the bronchial tubes and helps to elevate a person's blood pressure which results in their heart rate increasing. It is believed that as it stimulates the central nervous system, when combined with caffeine, it helps a person to lose weight. This is done by burning fat through their increased heart rate and their metabolic rate possibly being increased as well. This increased heart rate is where the danger lies in this ingredient.

3. Chitosan

Although not technically a fat burner, it is instead called a "fat absorber" or "fat trapper". It is included in this particular article because there has been a lot about it in the news over the last few months and years. It is a derivative of chitin which is found in the shells of insects and crustaceans such as crabs and lobsters. It is claimed that this particular product binds fats together in the stomach and so prevents them from being absorbed and thus digested. If it's not digested, then the calories are not added to your body. One problem with this is that good fats, which you must have for your body to function, are also not absorbed.

The problem with any fat burner product is there are side effects associated with them and these will need to be looked at closely in another article. However, if you do decide that you want to use such products in order to lose those extra few pounds, then you should speak to your doctor of health professional first.
